Trader Joe’s has recalled over 60,000 pounds of chicken dumplings due to potential plastic contamination.

The recall includes frozen Steamed Chicken Soup Dumplings with specific best by dates and lot codes.

“We are recalling Trader Joe’s Steamed Chicken Soup Dumplings (SKU# 54988) with the best by date 03.07.25 and lot code C1-1 or C1-2 due to the potential presence of foreign material (plastic),” the company stated.

“No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date. If you purchased Steamed Chicken Soup Dumplings with the best by date 03.07.25 and lot code C1-1 or C1-2, please discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund.”

The U.S. Department of Agriculture issued the recall after reports of plastic in the dumplings.

Customers are instructed to check for specific codes and dates and return the product for a refund.

“Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them,” the Food Safety and Inspection Service stated. “These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”

The origin of the contamination is under investigation, and no illnesses or injuries have been reported.
