Former President Donald Trump revealed at his New Year’s Eve celebration that Melania Trump was absent because she was caring for her ailing mother, Amalija Knavs, in Miami, Florida.
He mentioned that Melania sends her love to everyone and is devoted to her family.

“It’s a tough one, a very tough one,” Trump said of his mother-in-law’s illness.
“Hopefully, she’ll be recovering,” he said.
Trump emphasized her private nature and his desire to shield her from the negativity of politics.
“She’s a private person, a great person, a very confident person, and she loves our country very much,” Trump said of Melania.
“I like to keep her away from it. It’s so nasty and so mean,” he said of politics.
Despite her absence, Trump leads his opponents in the Republican presidential nominating contest for 2024.
