Liz Cheney’s new book, “Oath And Honor” has sparked controversy with claims of a heated clash with Rep. Jim Jordan during the Capitol riot.
Cheney alleged that Jordan tried to assist her, to which she responded angrily.
The book also includes previously unseen footage of the riot.
“Jim Jordan approached me,” wrote Cheney about the moment rioters entered the building, according to CNN.
“‘We need to get the ladies off the aisle,’ he said and put out his hand. ‘Let me help you.’”
“I swatted his hand away. ‘Get away from me. You [expletive] did this,’” Cheney claimed she responded in response.
Several other media outlets also received a copy of the book, the report said. It is scheduled to be published next week. A spokesman for Jordan denied the incident took place.
According to The Washington Examiner, “Jordan spoke with former President Donald Trump the morning of the attack, previously discussing plans to object to the 2020 election results with the former president, according to White House records obtained by the Democratic-led House committee that investigated the attack.”
Utah Sen. Mike Lee criticized Cheney for selectively showing the footage.
“Liz, we’ve seen footage like that a million times,” wrote Lee on X.
“You made sure we saw that—and nothing else,” he continued.
“It’s the other stuff—what you deliberately hid from us—that we find so upsetting. Nice try.”
Adding, “P.S. How many of these guys are feds? (As if you’d ever tell us).”
House Speaker Mike Johnson promised to release nearly all video surveillance footage from the riot, ensuring transparency while protecting sensitive information.
