Troubles with electronic voting machines in Northampton County, Pennsylvania have raised concerns about the reliability of the 2024 elections.

Glitches in the machines have led to fraudulent votes and undercounted ballots in recent elections, causing widespread mistrust and calls for change.

Despite reassurances from officials, voters, poll workers, and election security watchers remain skeptical and are pushing for the machines to be replaced. (Trending: Biden’s Mental Decline Getting Even Worse)

“They were saying, ‘Don’t trust the thing that’s supposed to validate your ballot,’” poll worker John Walker said.

“That doesn’t instill confidence in the system at a time when it has never been more important to do so.”

“We’re at the peak of mistrust of one another, but until that subsides, counties like ours need to be nearly perfect, and I think this system allows us to do that,” County Executive Lamont McClure said.

“The broader concern is that an incident like this would be misused to undermine confidence in our electoral process,” said Pennsylvania’s secretary of state Al Schmidt.

The issues have also sparked concerns about the overall integrity of the electoral process.

“Since 2019, the theory has been well, that was a big mistake, but we caught it and we’ve implemented new processes to make sure nothing like that would ever happen again,” said the Northampton County Democratic Party’s Matthew Munsey.

“I don’t know how we can restore trust with these machines,” he added.

“In 2019, when the issues came up with the touchscreens, we were told, ‘Don’t worry about it. The cards are recording the votes,’” stated Northampton County Republican Committee Chair Glenn Geissinger.

“OK, you’re telling me now, in 2023, ‘Don’t worry about what’s printed on the card?’”
