PETA received criticism for portraying Thanksgiving turkey eaters as killers, and the group asked followers to empathize with turkeys by sharing an image of turkeys eating a human.

The fact-checking community criticized PETA’s approach, highlighting that turkeys are not vegetarians and eat a variety of animals.

It is possible to care for animals and still consume them, and participating in the natural order of animals eating other animals. (Trending: Biden’s Mental Decline Getting Even Worse)

“We’re lucky turkeys would never do this to us—you don’t have to do it to them, either,” PETA wrote in a statement.

The social media company X, pinned user-driven context to the misleading post.

“Turkeys are not vegetarians,” explained the notification.

“Turkeys eat mice, lizards, frogs, and just about anything they can fit in their mouth,” it continued.

“If turkeys were larger or had the technological means to farm and eat humans, their current diet reveals they likely would,” concluded the community note.
