Former President Donald Trump returned to a New York City courtroom for the resumption of his business records trial.

Prosecutors are expected to continue questioning Gary Farro, a former banker at Trump’s bank, about payments made to Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election.

Trump is accused of falsifying records to reimburse Michael Cohen for $130,000 paid to Daniels to keep quiet about an alleged 2006 affair, which could have impacted the election against Hillary Clinton.

Trump denies the affair and any wrongdoing. He claims the case is a politically motivated “witch hunt” limiting his ability to campaign for a 2024 presidential run.

The trial stems from 34 counts of falsifying records related to the Daniels payment.

About a third of Americans believe Trump did nothing illegal, according to a recent poll.
