A recent Economist/YouGov poll shows former President Donald Trump leading President Joe Biden in a hypothetical 2024 rematch, particularly among independent voters.
The survey found Trump leading Biden 44% to 42% overall, with Republicans strongly backing Trump and Democrats backing Biden.
However, Trump had significantly more support from independent voters at 40% compared to Biden’s 30%.
Among those who chose neither candidate, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. garnered the most support at 34%.
The results continue Biden’s poor polling with independents, as shown in prior CNN polls finding most independents disapprove of Biden’s job performance and do not think he deserves reelection.
