A report claimed that in a January meeting, President Biden lashed out at his closest aides when informed his poll numbers had dropped in Michigan and Georgia against former President Trump.
Both are key battleground states Biden narrowly won in 2020.
Sources said Biden shouted and swore, believing he had handled the Israel-Hamas conflict correctly but wasn’t getting credit.
“In a private meeting at the White House in January, allies of the president had just told him that his poll numbers in Michigan and Georgia had dropped over his handling of the war between Israel and Hamas,” the report noted.
“Both are battleground states he narrowly won four years ago, and he can’t afford any backsliding if he is to once again defeat Donald Trump. He began to shout and swear, a lawmaker familiar with the meeting said.”
Biden has reportedly directed anger at advisers over ineffective jobs messaging not resonating with voters.
Due to concerns about his age and fitness, aides have urged Biden to walk faster and worry about him tripping while boarding Air Force One, leading him to now use a shortened staircase.
Advisers feel Biden can defeat Trump but are concerned about his slumping approval ratings, lower than the last three one-term presidents at this point in their terms.
