Radio host Charlamagne Tha God criticized supporters of Donald Trump, declaring they have “accepted fascism” and want their “rights to be racist” back as well as for “white supremacy to reign supreme.”
This came during a 73-minute interview where he and Stephen A. Smith discussed social media, the Black community and the 2024 election.
“They’ve accepted fascism and those are the people who I feel like they want their rights to be racist back,” Charlamagne said.
“They want white supremacy to reign supreme over this nation,” he added.
Charlamagne has previously said more Black voters supported Trump in 2020 because he actively courted them, unlike the “old Democratic regime” which assumes Black voters will automatically support Democrats.
In 2020, he told CNN Black male voters in particular appreciated Trump targeting them in his campaign messaging, as they are a group that is rarely courted by politicians.
“When it comes to black people you see who maybe are showing support for Trump, I think it’s because Trump is actually talking to young black male voters. He’s directing ads toward them. They are a group that never get courted,” Charlamagne said at the time.
“Black people don’t get courted either as a whole. But that old Democratic regime speaks to old black men and they think everybody else in the black community and black families are going to fall in line.”
However, in his recent comments, Charlamagne strongly condemned Trump supporters and accused them of wanting a return to racism and white supremacy.
