A fake electoral certificate was submitted to the US Senate following Michigan’s 2020 election.
Testimony revealed it did not match the official document and was deemed a fake.
Dan Schwager said, “We could tell it was not an authorized Certificate of Votes. It was a fake.”
“The Michigan one came in a little bit late and so it was added to the collection of the other fake certificates,” testified the former general counsel.
Schwager added, it was “not uncommon to get one or two often really wacky submissions from people claiming to be electors that are way out there.”
“I think we get maybe one or two or three every four or eight years, or something,” continued Schwager.
Fifteen Republicans have been charged for signing a document falsely stating they were Michigan’s duly elected electors, even though Biden won the state.
Similar fake electors in several swing states tried to falsely declare Trump the winner.
Names on Michigan’s fake certificate did not match official documents.
While common to receive some frivolous submissions, this one arrived from the Michigan GOP with Republican electors listed rather than Biden’s.
The preliminary hearing will determine if there is evidence to substantiate forgery and other charges against six defendants.
