House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik has filed a complaint against New York Attorney General Letitia James, alleging biased conduct in her multimillion-dollar civil fraud case against former President Donald Trump.
Stefanik claims James made prejudicial comments and seeks an investigation, potentially leading to consequences like disbarment or suspension.
“While all Americans possess the right to express their opinions on matters of public interest, attorneys — particularly state attorneys general — are held to a higher standard due to their unique role as officers of the court,” Stefanik said.
This move is part of Stefanik’s series of ethics complaints against judges and officials involved in cases related to Trump.
The case against Trump involves alleged financial misrepresentations, with James seeking a $370 million fine and a lifetime ban from the New York real estate industry.
Trump has criticized James and faces various legal challenges.
