Vice President Kamala Harris expressed her readiness to serve amid growing concerns over President Biden’s age and mental fitness.
This comes after Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report described Biden’s memory as having “significant limitations” but recommended no charges due to his defense as an “elderly man with a poor memory.”
“I am ready to serve. There’s no question about that,” Harris said.
Democrats and Republicans have voiced concerns, with some questioning Biden’s confidence and ability to win re-election.
“It’s the biggest television audience, not even close, and you get a chance to do a 20-25-minute interview on that day,” strategist James Carville said.
“And you don’t do it? That’s a kind of sign that the staff, or yourself, doesn’t have much confidence in you. There’s no other way to read this,” he said.
Former Clinton strategists and Hillary Clinton herself have acknowledged Biden’s age as a legitimate issue.
“Oh yeah. Look, I’m a Biden supporter, and I slept like a baby last night: I woke up every two hours crying and wet the bed,” strategist Paul Begala said.
“This is terrible for Democrats. And anybody with a functioning brain knows that,” he declared.
These developments reflect the increasing scrutiny of Biden’s fitness for office.
