Former President Donald Trump assured members of the National Rifle Association that he would protect their firearms if he returns to the White House.
He emphasized his support for gun owners’ rights, despite the ongoing issue of gun violence and mass shootings.
“During my four years nothing happened. And there was great pressure on me having to do with guns. We did nothing. We didn’t yield,” he said.
“Your Second Amendment will always be safe with me as your president,” he said.
Trump’s appearance in Pennsylvania coincided with the upcoming South Carolina primary, where he aims to solidify his lead in the Republican nominating contest.
The Supreme Court seemed skeptical of attempts to disqualify Trump from the 2024 ballot over his refusal to accept the 2020 election results.
“We’re leading everybody,” Trump said following his Nevada victory. “Is there any way we can call the election for next Tuesday? That’s all I want.”
