The Biden administration has identified wealthy areas like Martha’s Vineyard as “low-income,” making them eligible for electric vehicle (EV) charger subsidies.

The move has been criticized as it allows affluent places to qualify for subsidies meant for low-income communities.

The administration justified such by aiming to increase access to EV charging infrastructure.

Critics argued that subsidizing chargers in wealthy areas is unnecessary and contributes to inflation, especially as part of the Inflation Reduction Act.
