President Joe Biden expressed anger during a press conference at Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report, which mentioned Biden’s difficulty in remembering when his son Beau died and suggested cognitive decline as a basis for not prosecuting him for retaining classified documents.
The report cited Biden’s “significantly limited” memory and included examples of his memory limitations, such as not remembering when Beau died.
Hur reported that the investigation, “uncovered evidence that President Biden willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice presidency when he was a private citizen.”

“We have also considered that, at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” wrote Hur.
“Based on our direct interactions with and observations of him, he is someone for whom many jurors will want to identify reasonable doubt,” he concluded.
“It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him — by then a former president well into his eighties — of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness,” explained the Special Counsel.
Hur wrote, “Mr. Biden’s memory also appeared to have significant limitations.”
“He did not remember, even within several years, when his son Beau died,” he continued.
Biden fiercely criticized Hur’s inclusion of this detail, stating that it was not Hur’s place to raise it and expressing his emotional connection to his son’s memory.
Biden recently said, “There’s even reference that I don’t remember when my son died. How in the hell dare he raise that. Frankly, when I was asked the question, I thought to myself: ‘wasn’t any of their damn business’.”
“I don’t need anyone to remind me when he passed away,” he added.
Biden emphasized that he did not need reminders about his son’s passing and defended his emotional response when discussing Beau.
