Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, criticized the bipartisan tax bill passed by the House, suggesting it was designed to make President Joe Biden look good before the election and could potentially impact the extension of the 2017 tax cuts.

Grassley expressed concern about the absence of monthly checks for qualifying parents in the bill, and he condemned government inefficiencies and wasteful spending in affordable housing programs.

He proposed that the government address inflation and interest rates by cutting waste and reducing spending.

“Passing a tax bill that makes the president look good — mailing out checks before the election — which means he could be re-elected, and then we won’t extend the 2017 tax cuts,” Grassley wrote.

“The driver behind lack of affordable housing isnt a shortage of federal programs (this may b a surprise 2 Budget Cmte Dems but its not climate either) One of the biggest probs is waste fraud&abuse + bureaucratic inefficiencies,” he wrote.

“Ive uncovered lots of the above thru yrs of HUD/housing authority oversight U wouldn’t believe the unchecked spending happening in some areas Think bloated salaries wining& dining travel and more,” he wrote.
