A recent poll by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research shows that 35% of U.S. adults view the national economy as good, up from 30% last year.
President Biden’s approval ratings remain around 38%, with similar numbers for his handling of the economy.
The survey reflects diverse personal perspectives on the economy, with some attributing their positive outlook to factors like job prospects and investments.
“He has a lot on his plate right now and he’s doing quite well,” Wisconsin resident Molly Kapsner said. “He’s just putting his head down and doing his job and not trying to create a circus in our country.”
“I think he’s similar to his predecessors in furthering unsustainable deficits,” David Veksler said. “I’m as negative on him as I was on Trump.”
“I would like to see them block up the border like Trump wanted,” Harry Broadnax said, adding, “I’m a Democrat.”
“The big miss here was not to understand how much, by surging back into the workforce, by addressing supply chains that were completely broken, those inflationary pressures would come down,” White House National Economic Council director Lael Brainard said.
Political affiliations strongly influence views on the economy, with Democrats more likely to view it positively.
However, there are signs of improved sentiment among certain key voter demographics, such as college graduates and older adults.
Personal opinions about political figures, particularly Trump and Biden, appear to heavily influence voting decisions, potentially overshadowing economic considerations.
