Former federal prosecutor Andrew Weissmann received praise from MSNBC’s Jen Psaki for his composed response to Donald Trump’s attack on him.
Trump falsely claimed that Weissmann is overseeing a special counsel investigating Trump’s actions related to the 2020 election and mishandling of classified documents.
Weissmann emphasized the need for factual arguments and clarified that he has had no involvement with the special counsel’s work. (Trending: Melania Trump Breaks Silence On Tragic Family Death)
“One is the use of adjectives and adverbs. That is not legal argument. That is not a factual argument, any more than if you say the election was stolen,” said Weissmann.
“You need to have facts,” explained Weissmann.
“Adjectives and adverbs is not a way of arguing, especially for someone who had been the leader of the free world, let alone anyone else. And I think that’s really important,” said the former prosecutor.
He continued, “On the substance, which is to suggest that somehow I am Jack Smith’s boss ― again, where are the facts of that?”
“I have had zero communications with Jack Smith or his team. They are independent, both within the Department of Justice and certainly for a legal analyst on MSNBC,” claimed Weissmann.
Psaki commended Weissmann, saying, “Well, that is a very disciplined and graceful response.”
