Former U.S. Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn announced his bid for Congress, citing an ongoing threat to American democracy.

This comes as former President Trump seeks the White House again and as Democrats aim to win back the majority in the chamber.

Dunn, who endured abuse during the Jan. 6 attack, is seeking to replace a retiring Democrat. (Trending: Pro Sport Announces Shock Decision On Transgender Athletes)

“What better way to continue fighting … for the people of the United States and to continue to defend democracy,” Dunn said.

Trump has not been charged with any crimes related to the attack and has vowed to pardon some of those charged.

Dunn warned of the extinction of democracy and urged voters to take Trump’s authoritarian language seriously.
