The biased coverage of former President Donald Trump by the corporate media has caused frustration among Republicans, particularly when compared with their restrained approach to President Joe Biden’s countless mistakes in leadership.
Trump’s recent joke regarding Biden’s failed policies was immediately twisted by the media to suggest Trump was openly threatening to be a dictator.
“I wanna go back to this one issue because the media has been focused on this and attacking you,” Fox News’ Sean Hannity said to Trump. (Trending: Joe Biden Admits He’s ‘Not Sure’ About Running If Trump Wasn’t)

“Under no circumstances — you are promising America tonight — you would never abuse power as retribution against anybody?” he asked.
“Except for Day One. I want to close the border and I want to drill, drill, drill,” Trump said.
“That’s not retribution,” Hannity clarified.

“I love this guy,” Trump said.
“He says, ‘You’re not going to be a dictator, are you?’ I said: ‘No, no, no, other than Day One. We’re closing the border and we’re drilling, drilling, drilling. After that, I’m not a dictator.’”
“That sounds to me like you’re going back to the policies when you were president,” Hannity said.
According to Gallup, American trust in mass media institutions has tanked. Trust is down across all political demographics with the Democrats being the sole exception; this is an industry ripe for disruption.

A CNN headline later read, “Trump sidesteps question when asked if he plans to abuse power if reelected.”
Yet another CNBC headline read, “Trump says he won’t be a dictator if elected, ‘except for Day One.’”
An Associated Press headline read, “Trump declines to rule out abusing power to seek retribution if he returns to the White House.”
The media’s lack of objectivity has consistently led to a lack of trust in media coverage overall, as fewer people view mainstream media outlets as a source of valid news.
