House Republicans are threatening to hold Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress for his refusal to comply with a subpoena related to a corruption investigation of the Biden family.

Hunter Biden’s attorney has sought an open hearing for his testimony, while the committee has requested a closed-door deposition with a public hearing later.

The Republicans have insisted that Biden must appear for a deposition on December 13, 2023, and threatened contempt of Congress proceedings if he fails to do so. (Trending: Elon Musk Condemns Arrest Of Jan 6 Protester)

“[Biden] is making this choice because the Committee has demonstrated time and again it uses closed-door sessions to manipulate, even distort, the facts and misinform the American public — a hearing would ensure transparency and truth in these proceedings,” attorney Abbe Lowell wrote.

“Contrary to the assertions in your letter, there is no ‘choice’ for Mr. Biden to make; the subpoenas compel him to appear for a deposition on December 13,” Republicans James Comer and Jim Jordan wrote.

“If Mr. Biden does not appear for the deposition on December 13, 2023, the Committees will initiate contempt of Congress proceedings,” they added.

This comes as Hunter Biden is also facing federal gun charges.
