A donor and personal friend of Hunter Biden expressed concern about the political threat posed by Hunter’s unpaid taxes during the 2020 race, raising questions about potential violations of campaign finance law.
The email in question was part of documents published by the House Ways and Means Committee, obtained from IRS agents investigating Hunter Biden’s taxes and business dealings.
The email appears to support claims of a campaign finance violation during the 2020 race. (Trending: Trump Announces Major Promise For 2024)
“We are under considerable risk personally and politically to get the returns in,” attorney Kevin Morris wrote.
“When a person or entity pays for services on the [campaign] committee’s behalf, the payment is an in-kind contribution,” the Federal Election Commission website reads.
“An expenditure made by any person or entity in cooperation, consultation or concert with, or at the request or suggestion of, a candidate’s campaign is also considered an in-kind contribution to the candidate.”
“Morris was not involved in the tax return prep,” Schmidt said.
There are also indications that the donor’s payments went beyond a friendly gesture.
Congressional Republicans have sought to question the donor about potential in-kind contributions to Joe Biden.
Additionally, there are details about substantial financial support given to Hunter Biden, including labeled loans and settlements of tax debts.
