Kentucky released prisoners early during the COVID pandemic to reduce prison population and limit the spread of the disease.
However, a recent report shows that approximately 70% of the released inmates went on to commit more crimes, with 50% committing felonies within just a year.
The report found that most of the new crimes were drug or property-related offenses.

Governor Andy Beshear defended his decision, and has requested a re-examination of the report.
