In reference to Joe Biden, Republican Senator Joni Ernst said, “Bottom line, never trust a man whose uncle was eaten by cannibals.”
Ernst made the comment to Senator John Kennedy from Louisiana while exiting a conference.
As reported by NBC, the statement clearly alluded to comments made by Biden in April during a speech at a Pennsylvania war memorial.
Biden recounted the story of his uncle, Ambrose J. Finnegan, an Army Air Corps aviator, who he claimed was shot down over Papua New Guinea during the war and that “They never found the body because there used to be — there were a lot of cannibals, for real, in that part of New Guinea.”
Papua New Guinea’s Prime Minister James Marape criticized Biden for his remarks, accusing the president of disrespecting the country. Marape said, “President Biden’s remarks may have been a slip of the tongue; however, my country does not deserve to be labeled as such.”
The uncle supposedly consumed by cannibals is just one of Biden’s many embellished stories. Biden has a habit of fabricating and embellishing details to appeal to his listeners.
For example, he has embellished a 2004 house fire, falsely claiming it was life-threatening and endangered his beloved 1967 Corvette, while reports indicated it was a minor kitchen fire.
Additionally, The Washington Post highlighted an unlikely tale where Biden claimed an Amtrak conductor praised him for traveling more on Amtrak than on Air Force planes during his vice presidency, despite the conductor retiring long before Biden held that position.
Furthermore, Biden has made unverified assertions of being arrested during civil rights demonstrations or being refused entry to visit Nelson Mandela in prison.
In another instance, Biden stated that he awarded his late Uncle Frank a Purple Heart in 2009 for his involvement in the Battle of the Bulge. However, Uncle Frank passed away in 1999, ten years prior to Biden assuming the vice presidency, and there is no documentation of Frank ever receiving a Purple Heart.
The instances of such misrepresentations by Biden are numerous. Although the White House justifies these accounts as the president sharing “life experiences that have shaped his outlook,” the reality is straightforward:
The United States’ president is known for habitual dishonesty and is a source of shame for the nation.
Joni Ernst’s inside joke with colleagues could potentially become a popular meme, yet the global audience was already finding it amusing.
