Marjorie Taylor Greene has responded to reports that Jasmine Crockett filed a trademark application for the term “bleach blonde bad-built butch body.” During a House Oversight Committee session, Greene targeted Crockett by criticizing her “fake eyelashes.”
Amid escalating tensions, Greene also directed insults towards Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, although her remarks were deemed to be within the rules.
In a retaliatory move, Crockett questioned the decision and mocked Greene by referencing her “bleach blond, bad-built butch body.” Crockett is now seeking to capitalize on the conflict, as her campaign has reportedly filed a trademark for the cutting remark, as per documents obtained by Fox News.
According to the documents, the Texas representative intends to develop a collection of hats, hoodies, socks, and t-shirts featuring the phrase.
Approaching her 50th birthday next week, Ms. Greene has addressed the reports suggesting that Ms. Crockett aims to profit from commercializing the insult.
Greene responded on social media to share a workout video, defending her “built and strong” figure.
Crockett also took to X to tease her new line of merchandise, branding it “A Crockett Clapback Collection”.
“I think no matter what shape, size or how we look, we need to be ourselves, not telling women the only way to be attractive or accepted is to have fake boobs, fake hair, fake lashes, and injected faces,” she told the outlet.
“I mean, we all wear makeup and do lashes and stuff sometimes, but it’s out of control. Women need a better message for women,” the Georgia representative added.
“Yes my body is built and strong NOT with nips, tucks, plastic, or silicone, but through a healthy lifestyle,” she wrote on X.
She said the proceeds from her “swag” will go to “ensuring that we have a Democratic House”.
Greene wanted to discuss Justice Juan Merchan, the judge in charge of Donald Trump’s hush money trial. Crockett asked her how it was relevant to the proceedings.
“I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading,” the Georgia Republican said.
