Retired Army General Mark Milley has accepted teaching positions at Princeton University and Georgetown University, focusing on national security.

At Princeton, he will serve as a visiting professor through the School of Public and International Affairs, engaging with students, alumni, and faculty.

“I’ve read Mao Tse-Tung; I’ve read Karl Marx; I’ve read Lenin. That doesn’t make me a communist. So what is wrong with understanding, having some situational understanding about the country for which we are here to defend?” Milley said.

“And I personally find it offensive that we are accusing the United States military, our general officers, our commissioned, non-commissioned officers, of being ‘woke’ or something else because we’re studying some theories that are out there.”

His appointment at Princeton is set to expire in June 2025.

During his tenure as Joint Chiefs Chair, Milley was involved in high-profile clashes with former President Donald Trump and the withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021, as well as contentious hearings on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives within the military.
