A New York appeals court will consider relaxing a gag order imposed on former President Trump in his upcoming criminal trial for alleged hush money payments.

Trump’s lawyers argued the order prevents him from responding to expected trial witnesses and prosecutors, while the Manhattan DA said it was similar to orders upheld in previous cases.

The appeals court could rule to delay the trial as it weighs modifying the gag order, which currently prohibits Trump from publicly commenting on witnesses, counsel, court staff, or their families in a way meant to interfere with the case.

Both sides will submit written arguments on the gag order and keeping the trial in Manhattan.

Jury selection is still scheduled to begin later this month as the legal challenges proceed.
