Princess of Wales Kate Middleton revealed in a candid video message that she has been undergoing chemotherapy for cancer following major abdominal surgery earlier this year.
Kate said it came as a “huge shock” to receive the diagnosis after believing her condition was non-cancerous.
“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” Kate said.

She thanked those who had sent well wishes during her months-long absence from public duties while recovering.
“It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK,” she said.
The announcement aimed to address intense speculation about her health online and in the media.
“We will not be sharing any further private medical information,” a Kensington Palace spokesperson stated. “The Princess has a right to medical privacy, as we all do.”
“She has been subjected to intense scrutiny and has been unfairly treated by certain sections of the media around the world and on social media,” Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said. “She has shown tremendous bravery with her statement.”
Support poured in from around the world, including from leaders and cancer survivors, praising Kate’s courage in speaking out.
It came after frenzied rumors on social media about her condition during her months-long disappearance from public view.
“I hope that they can find hope and some togetherness in their family,” Andrea Stunz, a tourist from Texas said. “We´ll be praying for them. We will be praying for the family.”
