The owner of a controversial firearms training center in Vermont, Daniel Banyai, was taken into custody after a struggle with police.
Banyai had been in a years-long legal battle with the town of Pawlet over unpermitted structures and firing ranges on his property.
Courts repeatedly ordered him to remove the structures and cease firearms training.
Banyai was found in contempt of court for failing to comply with removal orders and faced arrest warrants and fines.
On Wednesday, the Pawlet town constable encountered Banyai and a struggle ensued, leading to his arrest.
Banyai’s center had prompted Vermont to pass a law criminalizing paramilitary training camps due to neighbor complaints about the facility.
