NBC News has hired former Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel as a contributor, with her first appearance scheduled on Meet the Press.

McDaniel had stepped down as RNC chair in March to allow the 2024 GOP nominee to select a new chair, as is tradition.

“It couldn’t be a more important moment to have a voice like Ronna’s on the team,” NBC’s Carrie Budoff Brown wrote. McDaniel will provide “an insider’s perspective on national politics and the future of the Republican Party.”

She had served four terms as chair since 2017 when chosen by then-President Trump.

As contributor, McDaniel will provide an insider Republican perspective on national politics and the future of the party, especially for 2024 coverage.

“I have decided to step aside at our Spring Training on March 8 in Houston to allow our nominee to select a Chair of their choosing,” McDaniel said. “The RNC has historically undergone change once we have a nominee and it has always been my intention to honor that tradition.”

Her hiring comes as NBC News looks to add more voices to its political analysis amid the upcoming campaign season. McDaniel will appear on NBC News and MSNBC cable networks.
