Nike unveiled new England soccer uniforms for the upcoming European Championships that featured an alteration to the traditional St George’s Cross design.
Rather than the usual red cross, Nike replaced it with a multicolored version using navy blue, light blue and pink.
While billed as a “playful update” meant to celebrate diversity, the modified cross design was heavily criticized by patriotic English soccer fans as being overly “woke” and undermining the country’s heritage symbolized by the traditional red cross.

The kit change, announced just days prior with initial anticipation, has sparked a new potential boycott among fans voicing disapproval over Nike and England’s decision to adopt the altered national uniform design.
