Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker expressed strong pro-life views in an interview.
He recalled wearing a pro-life tie and pin to the White House last year after their Super Bowl win to advocate for the unborn, calling abortion “a great atrocity” and the unborn “the greatest victims” who have no voice.
Butker said it was important to represent the unborn at the highest level.
While defending his prior White House statement, he said he had no plans for similar comments if the team returned this year for their Super Bowl LVIII victory, which made Kansas City the first NFL team in over a decade to win back-to-back titles.
Butker also recently criticized a funeral held for an atheist, transgender activist at St. Patrick’s Cathedral as disrespectful.
“The unborn, to me, are the greatest victims of our society,” Butker said. “They don’t have a voice. They don’t necessarily look like humans. They’re not very big. They can’t fight for themselves. There’s not a lot of people that are fighting for them.”
“And I just think it’s a great atrocity that’s occurring in this country with massacring the unborn. I felt like there’s no better place to send this message than to the masses and to represent the unborn at a place like the White House where, unfortunately, their voice is not heard.”
