A new poll found that the top emotion Americans associate with a potential 2024 presidential campaign between Joe Biden and Donald Trump is dread.

Forty percent of respondents selected dread when given options of positive, negative and neutral feelings.

Exhaustion and depression also saw strong selections.

Overall, over half of Americans chose at least one negative feeling, while just 40% picked a positive one. However, compared to a similar September poll, exhaustion and excitement are down and up respectively.

Optimism also rose across party lines. Republicans now see more optimism and excitement, and view Trump as more likely to win than Democrats do for Biden.

Still, dread remains the most selected feeling, indicating public wariness towards another Biden vs. Trump election.
