A New York Appeals Court judge denied former President Trump’s request to delay payment of $464 million owed to the state following a lawsuit by Attorney General Letitia James.
Trump and his sons can temporarily continue running their business during the appeals process.
The court found Trump liable for fraud and barred him and his sons from operating in New York for 2-3 years.
The judge ruled Trump must post a bond for the full amount of the judgment.
The case involves allegations of asset inflation and fraud.
“There was never an option to choose a jury trial,” a Trump spokesperson stated. “It is unfortunate that a jury won’t be able to hear how absurd the merits of this case are and conclude no wrongdoing ever happened.”
“My main finding is that there is no evidence whatsoever of any accounting fraud,” New York University accounting professor Eli Bartov testified.
Trump’s financial statements “were not materially misstated,” he said.
