Recent polls show former President Donald Trump expanding his lead over President Joe Biden nationally and in key swing states.
A Rasmussen poll found Trump leading Biden by 6 points nationally, with a 16 point advantage among independents.
Another HarrisX poll showed Trump ahead by 9 points overall and 10 points with independents.

Similarly, a Bloomberg/Morning Consult poll found Trump leading Biden in 7 important swing states by margins ranging from 3 to 13 points.
When third party candidates were included, Trump still held leads in the swing states.
The polls indicate Trump has gained ground on Biden both nationally and in competitive election battleground areas.
Speaking in December, Trump called Biden a “cheater” and “scoundrel” but said he was surprised Biden remained the Democratic nominee given his cognitive difficulties.
Trump said, “But in his life, he’s always been able to convince people he’s this really nice guy. I laugh when they say, ‘Trump is the evil one, and he’s the nice one.’ That’s the one thing he’s been able to do. All you have to do is look at his credentials. When you compare him today to 15 or 20 years ago, he’s a different kind of a guy. The guy can’t talk. The guy can’t put two sentences together.”
“So I do think this: I cannot believe he’s going to be the nominee. I hope he is,” he continued.
He added, “But I can’t believe he’s going to be the nominee.”
