President Biden is planning to visit the southern border in Brownsville, Texas, to discuss the Senate’s bipartisan border security agreement and urge Congressional Republicans to provide funding for additional resources.

Meanwhile, former President Trump is scheduled to deliver remarks in Eagle Pass, Texas, on the same day.

Biden is expected to “reiterate his calls for Congressional Republicans to stop playing politics and to provide the funding needed for additional U.S. Border Patrol agents, more asylum officers, fentanyl detection technology and more,” the White House stated.

The number of migrants crossing the southwest border since Biden took office has exceeded 7.3 million, with a significant increase in border encounters reported.

There is an ongoing conflict between Texas Governor Greg Abbott and the Biden administration regarding access to border areas, with the majority of illegal crossings now shifting to Arizona and California.
