House Speaker Mike Johnson met with former President Donald Trump and NRCC Chairman Richard Hudson to discuss growing the Republican majority in the 2024 elections.
Details of the discussion were not revealed. While the NRCC saw record fundraising in 2023, the RNC and Trump face financial challenges, including court-ordered fines against Trump totaling over $400 million.
“Just had a great meeting with President Trump this President’s Day. Together, we will grow the majority and save America!” Johnson said.
“Speaker Johnson met with President Trump in Florida on Monday to discuss growing the majority and securing Republican victories up and down the ballot in November,” Johnson spokesman Greg Steele stated.
Recent polls show Trump with an advantage over Biden on key issues like the economy, crime, immigration and others.
Nearly half of voters believe Biden won’t be the Democratic nominee in 2024 due to concerns about his age, mental acuity and a special counsel report describing him as an elderly man with poor memory.
Republicans aim to make gains in swing districts to expand their narrow majority.
