A new Emerson College poll showed former President Donald Trump leading potential 2024 matchups against President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
Trump had slim leads over Biden of 45-44% and 46-43% over Harris.
“Trump’s slim edge grows by one point when the field widens to include third-party candidates. He leads the pack with 40 percent, followed by Biden at 38 percent and independent candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr. at seven percent. From there, Green Party candidate Jill Stein and independent candidate Cornel West tie at one percent, with another thirteen percent undecided,” the site reads.
He led Newsom 46-36% and Whitmer 45-33%. A plurality of voters anticipate Trump will win in 2024.
Scrutiny of Biden’s mental acuity and age has intensified amid recent events.
Speculation is growing that Vivek Ramaswamy, who recently endorsed Trump after dropping his own presidential bid, could be Trump’s vice presidential pick.
“I wonder if Vivek will be vice president? I have never been so impatient in my life to know who the VP pick is. Waiting sucks,” one X user wrote.
“This is what the country needs. President and VP. This needs to happen,” another said.
“I think God anointed him to save this country,” event organizer Toni Holt Kramer said.
“America is the love of his life. He’s got the biggest heart, the smartest mind, and the strongest way. There’s no one else like him,” he added.
Ramaswamy appeared with Trump at a gala event, fueling online discussion about him as a potential strong VP choice.
The poll highlighted Trump’s competitive position and speculation about his 2024 campaign leadership team.
