Prosecutors revealed that a former FBI informant charged with lying about a bribery scheme involving a Ukrainian energy company and the Bidens had contacts with Russian intelligence officials.
The informant, Alexander Smirnov, is accused of making false statements to the FBI and creating fictitious records to influence the 2024 presidential election.
He is currently in custody and faces restrictions while awaiting trial.
The allegations made by Smirnov have fueled Republican efforts to investigate the Bidens, leading to a House impeachment inquiry.
