Explosions targeted a natural gas pipeline in Iran, with an official attributing the blasts to sabotage and terrorism amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.

The pipeline runs from Iran’s Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province to cities on the Caspian Sea, and the attack was compared to previous unclaimed assaults on gas pipelines.

“The goal that the enemies were pursuing were to cut the gas in the major provinces of the country and it did not happen,” Iran’s Oil Minister Javad Owji said.

“Except for the number of villages that were near the gas transmission lines, no province suffered a cut.”

While no suspects were named, the incident has raised concerns about potential disruptions to the country’s gas supply.

The context of ongoing regional conflicts and international sanctions on Iran has added to the complexity of the situation.
