A man who helped tackle an alleged shooter during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade described his actions.
Trey Filter said he saw a flash out of the corner of his eye and tackled who he thought was the shooter, not really seeing them come.
He squeezed the person hard and racked them in the ribs, possibly knocking them out, saying “I sure hope this is who they were yelling at me to get.”

“I literally remember when I was tackling him, ‘I sure hope this is who they were yelling at me to get.’ Because I just went, ‘boom!’ … I really don’t recall seeing him coming,” Filter said.
“I don’t know if I knocked him out when I tackled him or what, but I had him squeezed so hard he might have been passed out all the time for all I know. I just started racking him in his ribs,”he said.
Filter summed up his actions as “doing America stuff.”
Three people are in custody for the shooting during the parade that left more than 20 people struck by gunfire, one fatally, but police have not provided details on the firearms used.
