The testimony of Robin Yeartie, a friend to Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, suggests a romantic relationship between Willis and subordinate Nathan Wade dating back to 2019, contrary to Willis’ claims.
This revelation could jeopardize Willis’ case against former President Donald Trump and lead to potential criminal charges.
Defense attorney Ashleigh Merchant seeks cross-examination of Willis based on this new information.
Merchant asked, “When I ask you personal [relationship], do you take that to mean romantic?”
Yeartie answered, “Yes.”
“And do you understand it that their relationship began in 2019 and continued until the last time you spoke with her?” asked Merchant.
“Yes,” replied Yeartie.
Calls for Willis’ dismissal due to alleged prosecutorial misconduct and probes into illegal coordination with the Biden Justice Department have escalated.
Merchant said, “We plan on calling Ms. Willis to the stand. She’s under subpoena, so hearsay will be cured, so far as if there is a hearsay objection.”
The trial’s outcome could impact the case alleging conspiracy to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results involving Trump and co-defendants.
