The Biden administration announced $970 million in funding for infrastructure improvements at 114 airports nationwide.

Projects include wider concourses, new baggage systems, and new terminals at small airfields.

The largest grants include $50 million for Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and $40 million for O’Hare International Airport in Chicago.

Other major airports receiving tens of millions include Phoenix Sky Harbor, Dulles, San Francisco, and LAX.

The FAA received over 600 applications totaling $14 billion.

The administration has pushed for new passenger protections and better customer service through a dashboard to track airline commitments.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said these airport grants are part of improving the overall travel experience through physical infrastructure investments.

“Another part of that better travel experience is to invest in our physical infrastructure, to improve the airports,” Buttigieg said.

Last month $244 million was also awarded for runway and taxiway upgrades at other facilities.
