Jimmy Fallon did an impersonation of Donald Trump endorsing his daughter-in-law Lara Trump for co-chair of the Republican National Committee.
Fallon joked that Trump said he needed a smart person for the job and decided to call Eric Trump, telling him to pass the phone to his wife Lara.
“That’s right, they’re entrusting the party’s future to the wise judgment of someone who married Eric,” joked Fallon.
“When asked how he landed on Lara, Trump was like, ‘Ivanka said no,’” added the Trump impersonator.
The comedic impression highlighted Fallon’s view that Lara Trump was selected more for her family ties than her qualifications.
Trump had officially endorsed Lara and another person for the joint RNC leadership roles.
