Former professional wrestling star Billy Jack Haynes has been arrested in Portland, Oregon, for allegedly murdering his wife, Janette Becraft.
Haynes was engaged in a stand-off with police before his arrest and is currently in police custody at a local hospital for an unrelated medical condition.
Law enforcement officials said, “He is in police custody at a local hospital while he is being treated for a medical condition unrelated to the homicide or his contact with law enforcement.”
“Once he is released from the hospital, which may be days from now, he is expected to be booked into jail. Haynes’ charges will be released once he is booked,” they continued.
The victim’s neighbors and daughter expressed grief over the tragic event.
Becraft’s neighbor, Brelynn Matthieu, said, “It’s just a huge tragedy. I was pretty decently close to both of them and loved them very much. It’s a really sad day, all around.”
Janette Becraft’s daughter, Kim, posted, “You are now flying with the angels… Love you Mom.”
Haynes, known for his wrestling career in the 1980s and legal issues with World Wrestling Entertainment, is anticipated to face murder charges.
