Seattle plans to spend $1.8 million on a public restroom with six all-gender stalls on the waterfront.
The project will be funded by a combination of city funds and charitable donations and is expected to take nine months to complete.
The decision follows previous issues with self-cleaning toilets, which were overrun by illicit activities.
