Former Trump attorney Timothy Parlatore predicts that the Supreme Court is likely to rule against the former president’s claims of immunity from criminal prosecution.
Parlatore believes that the Supreme Court will not overturn the district court’s ruling that Trump is not immune from prosecution as a former executive.
“I do see a value in, in the Supreme Court weighing in and potentially clarifying what, you know, what type of conduct would or wouldn’t be under the immunity,” Parlatore said.
“I don’t think that it’s going to affect the outcome. I don’t think there’s going to change, you know, what’s going to happen in this trial.”
“I believe that the Supreme Court is not going to overturn it and find, you know, the blanket immunity that the former president is asking for,” he said.
The prediction aligns with another former Trump attorney’s argument, suggesting that the Supreme Court would unanimously rule against Trump.
The former president has until February 12 to file an emergency appeal with the Supreme Court on his presidential immunity argument.
Parlatore also commented on the panel’s reference to “citizen Trump” in their ruling, emphasizing the need to focus on the legal aspects of the case.
“I think that he’s probably taking more personally, particularly the parts about citizen Trump. I think that he’s probably more concentrating on that. But you know, ultimately, one would hope that his lawyers — and he has some very good lawyers on this particular issue — try to, you know, refocus it on you know, just the legal aspects,” he said.
