Patrick Mahomes Sr., father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Texas.
He admitted to having consumed alcohol while watching a game at a bar and was driving with an expired registration.
This marks his third DWI conviction, potentially leading to up to ten years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Despite this, Patrick Mahomes Jr. has offered minimal public comment, stating that it’s a family matter.
“Don’t really want to get into it too much, but he’s doing good for whatever the situation is,” Mahomes Jr. said.
“It’s a family matter, so I’ll keep it to the family. That’s really all I’ll say at this point,” he said.
The elder Mahomes can still attend the Super Bowl as he was not restricted from traveling.
Patrick Mahomes Jr. is set to play in his fourth Super Bowl, aiming for his third win, which would tie him with other quarterbacks for the third-most Super Bowl wins.
