Fair Fight, a political advocacy group founded by Stacey Abrams, is facing financial troubles, being $2.5 million in debt with only $1.9 million in the bank.
As a result, the organization will be cutting back on various efforts and laying off 75% of its staff.
Despite having raised $100 million, the group has faced legal battles and mounting expenses, leading to financial strain.
“This is a win for taxpayers and voters who knew all along that Stacey Abrams’ voter suppression claims were false,” Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said previously. “It has never been easier to vote and harder to cheat in the state of Georgia.”
“This is a start,” he added, “but I think Stacey Abrams should pay back the millions of taxpayer dollars the state was forced to spend to disprove her false claims.”
The organization lost court battles and was ordered to pay significant amounts in legal fees.
This has raised questions about the group’s financial management and its impact on taxpayers.
