The Justice Department is investigating a House Democrat for allegedly misusing government funds for personal security.

The House Sergeant at Arms has been served a subpoena for documents related to the investigation.

Prior to this report, there were conspiracy theories linking the subpoena to the January 6 Capitol protests, but the specific target of the investigation remains unknown.

“The Office of the Sergeant at Arms for the House of Representatives has been served with a grand jury subpoena for documents issued by the U.S. Department of Justice. After consulting with the Office of General Counsel, I have determined that compliance with the subpoena is consistent with the rights and privileges of the House,” House Sergeant at Arms William P. McFarland wrote.

“Keep in mind, Rep Scott Perry’s communications seized pursuant to a search warrant in 2022 were JUST finally released to Jack Smith’s office after a prolonged ‘speech or debate’ privilege battle that Perry mostly lost. I wonder if this new subpoena is related,” the Mueller, She Wrote podcast posted on X.

“The House sergeant at arms… DOJ documents… grand jury subpoena…Hmmm… sounds like some congressional insurrectionist are soon about to find out…” another X user said.
